Shirley Daly – Works at her local Dunnes Stores

“My journey to employment in Dunnes started out after I was supported by TEES to access a retail course. On completing the retail course, I had the opportunity to do some job sampling in retail. I really enjoyed this area of work and decided to look for paid employment. I was supported by TEES to research jobs, apply for positions, and prepare for interview.

I was also supported to set up a bank account and register with revenue office once I secured employment. I am proud to be a long serving member of staff in Dunnes since 1997.”

Fiona Halpenny – Works for the HSE

“When I left school in Glenmaroon I went to the VTC (Vocational Training Centre) where I learnt many skills that would help me get a job.

After the VTC I started with Supported Employment Department in TEES. The job coaches supported me to get a number of work experiences. Then an opportunity came for me to apply for an administration assistant position in the HSE. The Job Coaches helped me prepare for the interview. That was in 1999 and I never looked back!”
